Why we need Migos

Believe it or not, we actually need the Rap Culture contributors.
Let's be honest...
Hip Hop is a music genre for all. And despite the hiccups (won't mention names), like all things, it evolves, changes and grows.
Migos, for those neanderthals that live in seclusion, are a massively-known Rap collective. Made popular with hits such as Bad and Boujee (featuring Lil Uzi Vert), they have become a household name. And rightfully so.
Every generation has had the privilege of witnessing the rise of their favourite artists and musicians. From Aretha Franklin to Boyz II Men, from Kendrick Lamar and J Cole and now Migos.
There will always be a debate around which music is better; then or now. These can actually get quite serious, and to be honest, I was right there arguing too. I would get frustrated that Hip Hop no longer felt real and meaningful, which to an extent has some truth to it. However, I also realized that I may have been missing the whole point of music as a whole - to bring and affect something within you to make you feel. Be it sadness, worry, happiness or even just feeling "lit". Do I feel something when I hear the music? If so, mission accomplished. Migos helped me see this light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel-reflection.
When I first heard Bad and Boujee, I tried to study the lyrics to hear some "deeper meaning", needless to say, there wasn't. But I remember feeling good while the Metro Boomin produced record played back. And rapping along to it brought a feeling of nonchalant-ness. It was fun and necessary. Since then, the trio - Takeoff, Quavo & Offset - have gone on to release two albums; Culture and Culture II.
If you still need further convincing about the impact of Migos, take a look at Apple's Animoji ad using the group and their song called Stir Fry. And if for some ridiculous reason, you STILL don't vibe with them, this time you have no choice. They recently were given the opportunity to remake the Game Of Thrones soundtrack. Yes, the Game Of Thrones soundtrack!
At the end of the day, why can't we just enjoy music for what it is? Why can't I have a good time without worrying about depth? Thank you Migos for reminding us that we all need to just have a good time every once in a while and shake our big ol' onion bootys and make the world cry.
