YouTube got it right

Every now and again we find ourselves freefalling down the rabbit-hole called YouTube. It is while we fall that the “Recommended for you” portals appear on your screen. And yes, I have found myself ignoring them by a mere glance. But this year I decided to live more and say yes more (after serious calculations, lol), and in the spirit of this new lease on life I started watching these random suggestions. And I am pleased to report that there are wonderful moments where YouTube gets it right. This is my page dedicated to those lovely successes…
NPR Tiny Desk Concert with Tom Misch

This little window with a tall, blonde and laid-back man in navy Nike shorts strumming a guitar popped up for a good week during my browsing sessions. I decided that the worst that could happen was that I hate it. Boy was I wrong. “One. Two. Three. Four.” Followed by the band and standout guitar riff I was in. I did not anticipate the soulfulness in Tom’s performance. Every song was done beautifully and effortlessly. The Tiny Desk Concert saw Tom performing 3 tracks – It Runs Through Me, I wish and Movie. It’s difficult to listen to Misch’s voice without feeling the emotions he intended when he penned down every lyric. Since this video, I have gone on to listen to his albums, from Beat Tape 1 to his latest offering, Geography and even his EP titled, 5-Day Mischon. Tom Misch is an absolute delight to listen to and I can’t help but feel mad at myself for not having heard of him sooner.
Take a well-worth it 18-minute break to see this serenading performance by Tom Misch yourself.
